Two weeks ago, I sat in a taxi and bawled my eyes out as it hurtled me towards the airport. The poor taxi driver. He didn’t know what to do with this highly upset, possibly volatile female in his back seat. He kept quiet and drove me further and further away from my baby.
Six weeks after starting back at work, I had to travel to Johannesburg on business for a week. I missed Sam with an emptiness I’ve never felt before. Thank goodness my co-workers knew how to placate my aching heart: FOOD.
I didn’t squeeze in enough good meals on this trip. Jamming two weeks worth of meetings into one week will do that to you. But one stand out lunch on my last day was at Society Eatery & Craft Bar, a rustic open-air venue with delicious small plates and apparently really great craft beers.
crispy prawns with house made peri peri sauce
salt & pepper calamari
charred lamb riblets
mini pulled pork stacks
chocolate fondant
The lamb riblets were the stand out for me, I could have sucked on those bones all day long. But alas, a plane was waiting for me on the other side of lunch, and too many hours later, all was right with the world again:
