It all started over a discussion about the utter crapness of wedding reception food. No matter where you have it, no matter who caters, it always leaves a lot to be desired. Unless you have a kick ass Chinese banquet, which is always good.
I made a passing comment years ago that if I got married, I would totally have Shake Shack and Luke’s Lobster cater my wedding because those two are things I possibly adore as much as I would adore my betrothed, so you know, it makes sense.
Well, as it turns out, I didn’t have a big wedding per se, but I did celebrate matrimony with all of my favourite things!
Yesterday, in New York City’s Office of the City Clerk, Panu and I said our vows, exchanged rings and got married. Yes, yes we did. It was a quiet affair with three people present, totally low key and exactly how we wanted our wedding to be.
We pre-celebrated our wedding with Shake Shack, and as soon as we got hitched, we headed over to Luke’s Lobster for a couple of lobster rolls. I know this might sound rather too casual for some people, but we couldn’t have pictured our wedding being any different and I am beyond happy. I’m also having a great time saying “my husband”! I wonder when I’ll get used to that?!
Last night, we celebrated again with dinner at Momofuku Ma Peche, which I’ll blog about later. But here’s a happy snap for you guys in the meantime!
