I was a little bit anxious about my visit to Moo Gourmet Burgers. Having been to Moo a couple of times, I’ve always come away with a red, sore mouth, completely beat up from the hard, crusty roll. Maybe I have a tofu mouth! But Panu agrees that the buns we’ve had were tough, as did the random person sitting at the next table during my last visit, complaining about her tough bun.

So yesterday, I psyched up my mouth and together, we made our way into Newtown ready to be abused again.

I ordered myself a classic cheeseburger, side of fries and water (I oh-so-wanted a coke float but decided against the extra calories because lord knows I’m getting plenty of that this week!) and braced myself.

Well, I was pleasantly surprised. The bun this time was soft. Not The-Dip-steamed-bun kind of soft, but my mouth certainly came away unscathed and I actually enjoyed the burger, despite the cheese not being completely melty either – what’s up with non-melty cheese? – and the use of “mixed leaf lettuce”. The chips, however, were awesome. Crusty, crunchy, awesomeness.

Damage: Classic cheeseburger = $12. Small chips = $4. Water = $3.50. Totalling $19.50 for the meal. Most expensive so far, but still, Moo is currently top of my list of four.
